The Best Cruise Deal Out There

Tuesday, November 14th, 2006

easy-cruise.jpg

Have you ever been on a cruise? One of the frustrating things about the main cruiselines is that they pack up and sail every evening so you only have a few hours onshore. It makes it impossible to enjoy a full afternoon and evening at the location you are visiting because the ship has to depart. Here is the solution….a ship in which you get to cruise everyday and then have the afternoon and evening offshore with your family!

Additionally, this is quite possibly the lowest cruise fare that I have ever seen. EasyCruise provides cruises to great destinations for not a lot of money. Be sure to check out their site as they have all types of discount cruises.

This deal to the Caribbean tops them all, though. Good until April, depending on availability, cruise on the newly renovated easyCruiseOne for $175 per person. This also includes a free upgrade to an ocean view cabin! Click here to go to the details online. A brief description of EasyCruiseOne and the intinerary:

Our great new Caribbean itinerary takes you to the fantastic island paradises of St Maarten, St Barts, Anguilla, St Kitts & Nevis and Antigua. From December 8th until April 2007, easyCruiseOne takes to the seas and with prices starting as low as $175 per person you can explore the Caribbean like never before and enjoy a free upgrade to oceanview cabin. The ship acts like a floating hotel, sailing for just a few hours each morning and docking at a new destination at around lunchtime so you can enjoy the rest of the day and evening (until the early hours) having fun ashore. Book by November 30th!

Can You Imagine A Better Vacation: Nanny Included!

Tuesday, November 7th, 2006

kid.jpg

The Franklyn D. Resort in Jamica is the Caribbean’s only all-inclusive family resort that gives you a full-time Vacation Nanny as part of your package! Indulge in a friendly, carefree, relaxing all inclusive family vacation in Jamaica - doing as much or as little as you wish. Indulge in scuba, snorkeling, tennis and golf. Get a chance to get a exercise in the workout center. Your holidays will feature all your favorite activities; all the food and drinks you want - day and night; shopping on site at the Gift Shop, the Jamaican Craft Shop or Duty Free, and regular shopping trips to Ocho Rios.

But let’s get back to the important part (I mean, other than the free booze): the vacation nanny!

Here’s what the resort has to say about the “included” nanny:

Your Vacation Nanny is highly-trained and is on hand from 9:00 to 4:40 to take the worry out of your holiday. If you need her in the evenings, she is available for the low rate of $4/hour. Warm, attentive and friendly, she respects your privacy and will be there only when needed. Should parents need time alone to relax, or to go shopping, scuba diving or to participate in all the other activities, your Vacation Nanny will care for your children by taking them to the pool or beach, the playground, for a walk, or to any of the many games, crafts and activities offered every day. Vacation Nannies also are happy to bathe and dress your children, as well as make sure they’re fed at mealtimes. In addition, they will make sure your fridge is fully stocked with items of your choice before your return to your suite — which they will always keep neat and tidy.

Special occasions are also an opportunity to lean on the nannies. They are delighted to act as your ‘vacation assistant’ by organizing special events like family reunions, dinner parties, and birthday and anniversary celebrations.

Our guests’ appreciation for our Vacation Nannies is reflected in the numerous letters of commendation sent by guests each week. In your Jamaican home away from home, there’s no better way to spend an all-inclusive holiday than by sharing with someone who will develop a caring bond with your children, keep your Caribbean home clean and tidy, and also make sure that your holidays have a special touch.

Click here for up to the minute special offers for FDR Resort. Many of the offers include a free bonus night with the purchase of a minimum number of nights.

Did I mention you get a nanny?

There Are Safe Vacations In Recovery

Saturday, October 28th, 2006

drinking.gif
Anyone who has followed my blog, Stay At Home Motherdom, knows that I am an alcoholic in recovery. One of the hardest things to do in the beginning of recovery is travel. Everything in an alcoholic’s life involved alcohol but vacations, at least for me, were very difficult to envision without that “social lubricant”.

I stumbled across this article in the New York Times Travel section called Journeys of Recovery. The article speaks of the difficulty that I, and a great many others, faced. As such, there have been some travel agencies that have designed vacations around sobriety and recovery.

Sober Vacations International
has an entire website devoted to recovery. For example, it takes an entire Club Med Village in Ixtapa, Mexico, and converts it into an alcohol free zone for a week. The next one is in early 2007. In March 2007, there will be a sober cruise on Holland America. The cruise will have all types of 12 step meetings and workshops.

All of these vacations are family friendly, so bring the kids along! (oh, and the spouse, too, if you want…)

Crave adventure? Sober Travel Adventures might be your answer. Check out this trip to the Galapagos Islands and Ecuador in December.

More cruises are available on Sober Celebrations and Sober Sailors.

Remember: Anything you put before your sobriety, you will lose. So, if you really want to take a vacation but are still apprehensive, explore these options. Have fun alcohol free and don’t worry about temptation!

If you need a meeting, whereever you go, you can use the AA website. It will lead you where you need to go. I just got back from Hawaii a month ago and easily found meetings close by.
